Server and Client

InsTIL is a totally web enabled application having Microsoft Technologies as its server platform. It requires Internet information server (IIS), .Net framework and Microsoft SQL Server (package includes a free express edition for starters) to function.

InsTIL does not require any client application to be installed and works on popular browser such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome and Safari.

Authentication and Accessibility

InsTIL uses two types of authentication SQL authentication and Windows Active directory authentication. A customer can choose both types of authentication in his environment. When used with Active directory InsTIL provides facility for Single sign on.

The power of the internet makes the user to connect to InsTIL server from anywhere in the world. Optionally SSL can be implemented over http for transaction encryption.

Email integration

InsTIL integrates with any SMTP server for sending mail alerts on the various transactions. The customer needs to provide relay access for the InsTIL server in their SMTP settings.

Use of WMI, SNMP and Ajax technologies

InsTIL uses Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI), Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and Asynchronous Java and XML (AJAX). The assets in the network need not be manually as WMI and SNMP are used for auto discovering and monitoring the assets.

Ajax improves user experience and it is an approach towards Web 2 standards.

Easy setup

“InsTIL Easy Setup” is a wizard driven application installation package which starts right from checking the prerequisite, installing the server application, enabling server security, configuring WMI and SNMP and connectivity to the database. The “InsTIL Easy setup” bundles the .Net framework and Microsoft SQL server Express edition packages. The Microsoft SQL server Express edition can scale up to 2 GB in size.

Customer Configurable workflow

The various categories of workflow are configurable by the Customer themselves using the “Auto Service Desk”. The workflow trigger activities in Serial, Parallel and a mix of Serial and Parallel sequences.
